Anshu Guleria, MD
Dr. Anshu Guleria is a graduate of Kent State University and Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine with combined BS and MD degrees. He completed his general surgery training and a fellowship in renal transplantation at the Washington Hospital Center.
He then completed a fellowship in Surgical Oncology and Immunotherapy at the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, Surgery Branch. Dr. Guleria entered the urology residency program at Washington Hospital Center, which he completed as Chief Resident in Urology in 1997.
Dr. Guleria has published and talked extensively in the areas of transplantation, trauma, prostate cancer, kidney cancer, immunotherapy, and brachytherapy. Dr. Guleria was certified by the American Board of Urology in 1999. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Guleria is in private practice in Manassas, Fairfax, and Gainesville, VA. He is Past-Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Prince William Hospital. He is also the Chief of the Section of Urology and serves on the Cancer Committee at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.
Dr. Guleria has a special interest and training in radiation implantation for prostate cancer (Brachytherapy), laser surgery (Holmium, YAG, and Indigo), donor nephrectomy, laparoscopy, cryotherapy for prostate and kidney cancer, and incontinence surgery. He also has an active interest in use of the Internet in healthcare, particularly for patient education.
Dr. Guleria's wife, Dr. Alli Makker Guleria, is an Orthodontist in Reston. They have two sons.
